IMACS Tech Week 2025: Syntax of the Stars

Event Summary

The IMACS Tech Week 2025, themed “Syntax of the Stars: Writing the Code of Innovation,” made its much-awaited comeback after two years, running from April 23 to 25. The three-day celebration showcased the creativity, intelligence, and unity of the IMACS community in championing innovation, diversity, and excellence.

The opening day began with a general student assembly in full institute uniform, followed by opening remarks from Dean Keno Villavicencio. The IMACS Student Council prepared a dynamic lineup of activities grouped into four major categories: Big Events, IS-Related Activities, Board Games, and Extracurricular Activities.

The Cosplay Competition opened the week with great excitement as the first program of Tech Week. Later that day, the most awaited highlight took place—Mr. & Ms. IMACS 2025: The Search for Celestial Elegance. The competition was met with applause from the audience, judges, and even well-known sponsors, as the candidates showcased not only their beauty and talent but also their intellect and compassion during the Q&A portion, which focused on topics related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and KLD policies.
On the second day, select IMACS students had the chance to experience The iExperience: The First Mobile IMAX in the Philippines, branded as the SKY EXPERIENCE. They stepped inside a massive digital dome and witnessed the cosmic wonders of creation—exploring a three-dimensional time capsule that visualized the dynamics of how matter, planets, and galaxies came to exist. The day continued with a SportFest and multiple IS-Related Activities, including Quiz Bee, Speedtyping Challenge, Figma Design Competition, SQL Mystery: A KLD Lost & Found Version, and a Financial Literacy Seminar for graduating students.

The Board Games segment, spearheaded by the Information Society Organization, gave IS students a chance to demonstrate their strategic thinking through games like Speedcube, Sci-Damath, Scrabble, Game of the Generals, and Chess. Additionally, the GitHub Organization hosted the E-Sports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Competition and Tekken Tournament, both held onsite as part of the extracurricular activities.

To end the celebration with a bang, IMACS Tech Week 2025 gave its final blast on the third day through GOT THE BEAT: The Ultimate Showdown Concert, where students from IMACS and across KLD showcased their performance skills in three segments: Battle of the Bands, Dance Battle, and Lalaparuza: The Lip Sync Smackdown. After the exciting performances, the NOVUS Organization presented an emotional video recap of Days 1 to 3, reflecting the unity, effort, and success achieved by the IMACS community. The event concluded with a stunning fireworks display, marking the successful and meaningful end of IMACS Tech Week 2025.
