Event Summary
The Institute of Computing and Digital Innovations (ICDI) successfully conducted its hallmark freshmen orientation, "The Eyeconic Beginning," on August 15, 2025. This half-day institutional event was designed to provide incoming students with a "clearer vision" of their academic journey, blending formal administrative instruction with vibrant student-led community building.
Morning Session: Foundations and Academics The program commenced with a solemn Opening Ceremony featuring an invocation, the National Anthem, and the Dasma Hymn, followed by an inspirational message to set a high-standard tone for the new academic year. The core of the morning was dedicated to the "ProwlWay" discussion, a structured transition manual for new students.
In Chapter 1: Know Your Institute, students were introduced to the history of ICDI and the faculty members who will serve as their mentors. This transitioned into a critical Chapter 2: Academics session, where the technicalities of the curriculum were laid out, including the grading system, exam policies, laboratory regulations, and student conduct expectations.
Student Life and Values: focus toward the holistic student experience. Chapters 3 and 4 provided insights into available tools, resources, and the diverse landscape of student organizations. The ICDI Student Government (ICDISG) and its members played a pivotal role in accommodating new students, encouraging them to step into leadership roles.
The orientation also emphasized the "Local's Guide" and KLD Values and Traditions, ensuring that students understood the meaning of KLD, the importance of the Bayanihan spirit, and the institutional alignment with the 17 SDGs. To maintain engagement, an "Ice Breaker" featuring a "Golden Ticket" activity provided a high-energy transition before the closing segments.
Conclusion and Community Building The day concluded with a rigorous Q&A Session, allowing freshmen to engage directly with student leaders and faculty to clarify academic and campus life expectations. The event reached its climax during the Closing Remarks, followed by a symbolic group photograph where the ICDISG leaders and various student organizations stood on stage with the massive background of over 600 freshmen—signifying the official start of their collective growth and innovation at ICDI.
